Day 5 – Attributes of God – 7-Day Spiritual Journey

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear, though the earth gives way, and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.

There is a river whose streams make the city of God glad, the holy place where the Most High dwells. God is within her, and she will not fall; God will help her in the break of day.”

Psalm 46: 1-5

Three Attributes of God.

Omnipotent

Omnipresent

Omniscient

Meaning: One who has unlimited power and authority and is all-knowing and all-present.

That’s our God!

Discovery

Like yesterday, today is another backward day for my quiet time with the Lord. I’ve set aside the afternoon instead of the morning, as my husband had a procedure this morning, and I needed to take him. Life happens, but it doesn’t have to stop my seeking the face of God.

There was a time in my Christian walk when I could have felt guilty for not waking up earlier to do what I’d vowed to do before leaving the house.

However, today, after 40-plus years of walking with Him, I’m reminded not to make my journey a list of should/s. That’s not at all what He wants or expects from His children. If you decide to make your own 7-day journey, you may need to remind yourself of this too. Essential things in life come up, and caring for them is okay. God isn’t going anywhere.

Insight

As in the previous four days of my spiritual journey, after praying, I listened for what the Holy Spirit put on my heart and realized how desperately I need God. God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in times of trouble.

This afternoon, as I sat at my desk, I closed my eyes and felt rejuvenated by simply being in His presence. He sweetly filled my soul with joy.

It’s way too hard to go through this world alone. And lately, I feel that’s what I’ve been doing. We need s relationship with the Lord in order to feel peace in our heart, soul, and mind. We need the attributes of God.

“Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory.”

Psalm 73:23-24

Encouragement

It isn’t easy when we hurt, are disappointed, or have the rug pulled out from under us. And it’s easy to feel all alone. But take comfort that you are not alone, sweet friend. God is right by your side. When Jesus ascended into heaven, God sent the Holy Spirit in His place to dwell among us and in our hearts. The attributes of God!

Here are a few scripture references about Jesus’ ascension into heaven and leaving behind the Holy Spirit to guide us.

Matthew 28: 20

Mark 16:19

Luke 24:45-53

Acts 1:1-11

They are each found in the New Testament.

Hope

We shouldn’t expect an easy path on our journey here on Earth, but we aren’t alone when we find ourselves in trouble. Remember, God is your very present helper and is omnipotent – all-knowing and all-powerful!

Whether you are going through hurt, addiction, depression, financial, marriage, or friendship trouble, you are not alone!

And equally, when you are happy; found the man of your dreams, just had a beautiful new baby, your business deal just went through, or you’re sitting quietly before His thrown. God is right by your side.

I promise – m o r e importantly – God promises – No matter what we go through here on Earth – He/God wins in the end! Stay strong my friend!

Conclusion

Whatever you may be going through in your life right now, God is with you. He loves and adores you. He wants the best for you and I. And he wants you to have your wildest desires come true.

“For nothing is impossible with God.” Luke 1:37

Go to Him, sweet sister. He listens!
